Sensitive Skin? How to Make Waxing Work for You

  • What are the best waxing options for sensitive skin?

Communication is always great when you have sensitive to your Esthetician. Hard wax is gentler on sensitive areas and how it minimizes irritation, whereas soft wax is a bit more harsh on the skin if used incorrectly. It’s great to find a skilled esthetician to educate you properly on how waxing can be okay for sensitive skin types.

  • What should I avoid if I have sensitive skin?
Avoiding harsh exfoliants or products with alcohol before and after waxing, as they can increase sensitivity. Waiting 48 hours to use any exfoliants after your wax appointment. Also, avoiding sweating, sexual activity, and tanning within 24-48 hours of your appointment.

  • How do I care for my skin post-wax?
Your Esthetician should provide you on after-care tips and products to use. If a reaction does occur at home some tips like using soothing gels (like aloe vera) and avoiding tight clothing or hot showers can calm the skin.
